Stratus Engineering’s EZ-Tap hardware module is a low-cost hardware bus analyzer and protocol analyzer solution that uses a traditional dual COM port approach to RS232 interface monitoring.
EZ-Tap is fully compatible with Stratus Engineering’s FREE EZ-View monitoring software as well as most 3rd-party dual COM port/ serial port monitoring programs and eliminates bulky cabling typically associated with these solutions.

The EZ-Tap™ is a passive RS-232 tap module that lets you monitor serial communication between two devices without interrupting the connection. It uses a dual COM port approach — no inline breakout box, no bulky cabling, no disruption to your live signal.
Compatible with Stratus Engineering’s free EZ-View monitoring software as well as most third-party dual COM port and serial port monitoring programs. Supports baud rates up to 230400. Driver software for MS Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8/10.
For baud rates above 9600, we recommend the EZ-Tap Pro™.
Device Driver Installation
Download the latest device drivers and installation guide from our downloads page. The EZ-Tap, EZ-Tap Pro, and Versa-Tap all use the same driver. Unzip the files and run the Windows hardware installation wizard. Once installed, EZ-Tap will appear as a USB COM port in Windows Device Manager.
EZ-View™ RS-232 Monitor Application
EZ-View is free monitoring software compatible with EZ-Tap. Download the latest version from our downloads page. The Docklight RS-232 Monitor also fully supports EZ-Tap — see the Docklight Tap Application Note for setup details.
